Today we had Noah's 2 year doctor's appt. At his 18 months appt he was 32 inches tall and he is now 35 which puts him in the 70th percentile she said and then for his weight he was 24 1/2 lbs and now he is 28 lbs and 4 oz which puts him in the 65th for his weight.
We were anxious for this appointment since we really just wanted to see where he was language wise and have been waiting for a little while to see how he's doing. We were glad to hear she thinks he is doing great and on track. She said boys generally are a little behind which I knew but she said a lot of kids take a jump at some time and really have one period where they learn a lot and she said some boys take that verge around 2 and she said if he hasn't completely had it he is right there in the middle of it and that if we were still worried in a few months to let them know and they can refer him but she thought he was right on track from what she saw. Of course Noah talked as soon as she came in and was playing with his cars and making noises (showing off his imagination), which is pretty new for him in the last few weeks. He said a few words right away and showed her a yellow crayon and telling her it was yellow. It was almost like he was trying to show off a little.
Matthew has been reading up on speech so much and there were a lot of things we just weren't unsure of like when the charts say he should use 50 words is that daily or if he says them once in a while do they count and apparently they do. And also we thought everyone had to be able to understand him and doctor said at his age we should be able to understand half of what he says not necessarily everyone else. So I think we were relieved a little to hear that good news today. We were just worried that with moving and having Carson all around an important time in his development we might of pushed him behind and hated feeling like it was our fault. We have been praying every night for him and he definetly has come a long way! We also were telling her how he knows colors, shapes, and animals but won't say any of them but yellow, red, circles, dogs, horse and she said that's fine he is ahead since he knows all of them but it's okay, he will say them in his time which is pretty much true in every area for him. We know he's smart he just doesn't always vocalize it and that's just how it is with him! So now for us it is continuing what we have been doing with him and just waiting for more language to follow!
yay! so glad everything went well and you can have some peace of mind now! He's such a smart little guy and he will talk more and more everyday! Love him!
